Try My Inhibitions by Eric Warner

Read by Conner Arnold

Drink from my cup and feel the rivers of time wash down your grief
A burning so old for a second you taste your grandmother’s spittle quench the dryness in your throat
Tell me I’m a living sin, and I’ll tell you why I’m one of the few living saviors
Try to put me in your cages, we will have the time to discuss how you’ve put yourself in them already
Show me the illusion where my lost ones carry on, I’ll tell you stories of who they were and why they still matter
We know emotion so disparate that our bodies won’t wake
Beats from our heart are inaudible through layers of stone
Pain with such depth no heavenly hand can grip it away, or bleed it out
I don’t claim to have the cure like you do
No repentance, but I do have a remedy
We know pleasure so intense that our bodies won’t be still
Writhing like snakes our hissing brings storm clouds back into the sky
Joy so immense tears fill puddles and turn them saline
Swim into my pool and fill your glass
We won’t drown our sorrows, we will embrace them
We won’t stifle our expression to fit your norms
Our bliss is so great because our misery is unabashed
We keep drinking and still our cups overflow
To you old friend, great river of time, and to times before I was a sinner, a savior, or a hedon
To tastes of when we were persons, unfiltered and raw
Drink from my cup and come as you are
