For the Infinite by Garrett Warrick
Read by Conner Arnold
“I am,” to answer the longstanding question,
The son who had so much, but did not do enough.
The one who was ahead, in place to help
Others who were already buried in the
Chest-high grave of compulsion.
And all the rest who simply wanted to live,
In a spirit (bravura) of grace, redemption, and armistice.
To be, to fulfill what is asked, what is expected.
To not be, the solution and the sound.
Inhere, and face the banality of modern life
Rejoicing in the spirit of one constant:
The revolving act; the performance of ruins.
“Hey Hal…” a brother speaks to comfort and discern.
The rebuttal does not correspond…
They watch the tide pull out beneath a heavy sky.
