Our elected officials are good-hearted Evangelicals.
They silently speak their thoughts and prayers
While children continue to perish,
And bystanders wait to see which children return home to their parents.
The right side screams out,
People can still commit carnage with knives
And besides,
Gun control laws will target a white male demographic.
The 2nd amendment is unmovable
Like 8 am 405 freeway traffic.
We all wait, watching the news
Buzzing from all forms of media
Hitting hard with the weight of a freight train.
We strain our ears hoping for a better excuse,
But then Facebook friends cry out,
Mental health issues!
By the end of the week celebrity gossip continues.
So don’t present your position,
Instead, send your prayers up high or
You’ll offend your family members on the right side
Of the thick polarized political line.
They will tell you, people kill people
Guns aren’t the problem.
Don’t you know that heartbreak doesn’t constitute political change?
Go to a gun range!
