Old Man See The Sky by Riley Atrops

Read by Conner Arnold

Burgeoning dawn he cleans his shoes And feeds the cat of somber hues A nod to Mirror his, his only friend Who looks at him as if at her end
Wash the dishes, scrub the floors, Replicate yesterday’s chores Can’t forget to comb his hair Must look his best for no one there
Then battered fields must meet the till So decrepit legs trudge up the hill He bends his back and lowers his head But empty lies the garden bed
Toil a year and reap no fruit Die a fool in love’s pursuit Recall an age not so insipid To find too late that time is wicked
But finally see, Old Man, the sky And slip into that lullaby The garden there is piled high! Dauntless meet the minute’s eye
And sweetly sing that lullaby.
