There is an hour I’ll never forget,
I’ll never forget the cold pavement I felt
As I sat down outside the school entrance waiting
For her.
Nor will I forget the little kid next to me waiting for his
Mom to pick him up.
We both had something in common…we waited for someone.
His Mom eventually apparead but mine didn’t, but I kept waiting,
I had faith that even if she was miles away from me, she’d come to take
Me back home.
Fifty nine minutes…an hour and she still wasn’t here.
If there is an hour in particular I’ll never forget was the moment I had to let her go.
I understood I wasn’t meant to be with her for the rest of my life, that just like a bird I had to leave the nest at some point. Yet, no one told me I had to do it this early.
No one told me it’d hurt so bad that it made such an hour feel like eternity.
And just like that hour today, I still think about all the hours I spent trying to recuperate what was never lost. I dedicated so many hours of my life to her that I lost count of time.
But who am I to blame? She’s my mom and I still dream of the hour I’ll reunite with her.
