Rainbow Girl by Audrey Wehner

Read by Conner Arnold

She was red.
She was vibrant.
Red colored her plump cheeks,
and matched her cheaply painted bitten nails.
Shades of red patterned along with her flowered dress,
which seemed to perfectly match her careless lipgloss.

She was orange.
Caught in between red and yellow.
Her soul was gently warm yet slightly energetic,
but she constantly was absorbed in thought.

She was yellow.
Delightfully ecstatic as well as appealing to the eye.
Attracting all sorts of unwanted attention,
always beaming as if she were a light with no switch.
It was almost as if she belonged to the sun,
for her incandescent smile never failed to brighten all kinds of darkness.

She was green.
She resembled the sprouting seeds,
and the highest tops of the hidden trees.
Her skin was rough but worthy of high value,
and balance was found within the structure of her face.

She was blue.
All she wanted was his warm hand in hers.
She wanted to feel his thumb rub across her defined blue veins,
to tense up at the feeling of his soft breath against the back of her neck,
even being blanketed by her delicate strands of hair.

She was purple.
Her blood streamed with stability brought upon by blue.
His oceans filled up her body,
but not enough to withstand red.
Fiercely overwhelming her with its ferocious ways,
Red sunk deep into her veins to contrast with blue.

She was plain and simple,
but mysterious and complex all at the same time.
She was every color and she was every thought.
She was a rainbow.
