Living While Lost by Marc Balog
Read by Conner Arnold
My mind is always stuck inside a dream
It’s this fantasy that’s my only light
This gives me hope thinking it is close
That in the deepest night there are always stars
what’s called an escape is my lullaby
a cure to make any disease be gone.
What is this sickness that needs to be gone?
A rot that lingers on in my best dream
I need to leave where is my lullaby?
To keep safe what’s left of my guiding light
the only clear path left to the stars
where is my song? My path I need it close.
But the distance grows, it’s no longer close
and with it peace of mind, it’s now all gone
once was near, now far from reach, my stars
without them I’ll lose it all I’ll lose my dreams
the desperation encloses the light
it’s hard to breathe unlike my lullaby.
It keeps me up, where is my lullaby?
It’s hard to breathe the pressure now grows close
now I get scared at night, I’m losing my light
my doubt grows bigger, where have these things gone?
I once was happy, back then I could dream
I’m confused, I look up where are the stars?
I can barely see now, where are my stars?
I want to rest, where is my lullaby?
The days are long and dark, where is my dream?
once there was hope, that’s why I kept them close
without them what’s the point, then I’ll be gone
the path once clear now is not, I need light.
I hate this path ahead, there is no light
wait where are they, what happened to the stars?
You don’t understand without those I’ll be gone
the noise hurts I can’t hear my lullaby,
now I’m without support to keep close
how do you live if you cannot dream?
Muddling through without light, restless with no lullaby
and with the stars lost there is nothing close,
sometimes I would rather be gone than without my dream.
